Nearly 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the state, bringing wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact

Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews working to address the widespread outages.

Southern State's Weather Woes

At the same time, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the capital city experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and flooding.

• Werribee - saw significant destruction
• Hoppers Crossing suburb - various emergency calls
• Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests

At one point on Sunday, over 28k power users in the state were experiencing outages.

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across multiple regions of both states.

Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
