One two-month journey through Australia is being halted in the wake of the death of an older woman who was stranded by the ship on a distant island.

The passenger had been walking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the group for a break. The liner left without her and came back several hours later after the ship staff realised the woman was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt found her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, together with law enforcement and the medical examiner.
